Calathea is an ornamental herb of the Marantov family. From the ancient Greek, calathea is translated as "basket", tk. leaves of certain types of kalata were used for weaving baskets. This houseplant has very decorative wide leaves of various colors.

The peculiarity of the leaves of calathea is that they, like the well-known sunflower, always turn towards the sun. Prefers a good place with good lighting, but no direct sunlight, in order to avoid burns on the leaves. It develops well in high humidity. In dry or hot weather, the plant must be sprayed.
