Origin: Pine hooked (lat. Pinus uncinata) got its name from the "hooks" located on the scales of cones. In natural conditions, it grows in the west of the Alps, in the Pyrenees at an altitude of 1500-2000 meters above sea level.

Advantages and features of the variety: it has a central trunk, unlike other varieties of mountain pine. It is frost-resistant, unpretentious to the soil, drought-resistant, but sensitive to air pollution. Pine buds secrete phytoncides and essential oils that are beneficial to health, so pines are often planted in clinics and country parks.

Maximum height of an adult pine: 12-15 meters. At the age of 10 - 2-2.5 m in height and 1-1.5 m in diameter; in a 30-year-old - 3.5-4 m in height and 2-2.5 m in diameter.

Crown shape: conical at a young age, then becomes ovoid.

Needles: dark green, thick, collected in bunches of 2 pieces, 2 to 7 cm long. Cones are asymmetric, young purple, then turn yellow-brown, 4-6 cm in length and 3-5 cm in diameter with " hooks "at the ends of the scales.

Location: Prefers open, sunny locations. Undemanding to soils, grows in rocky areas. Possesses frost and drought resistance.

It is used: to strengthen slopes, decorate rock gardens and rocky hills as a single tree and in mixed group plantings.
