Rumelian pine (lat.Pínus peuce) is a coniferous tree from the Pine family. Natural habitat - mountainous regions of the countries of Bulgaria, Greece, Albania, North Macedonia, Yugoslavia, Montenegro, Serbia.
Feature of the tree: Drought-resistant, tolerates a little shade. It develops well in urban conditions, has a high smoke resistance and gas resistance.
Maximum height of an adult pine: 15-25 meters. At the age of ten - up to 4 meters.
Crown shape: thin, narrow pyramidal, pin-shaped, starts from the ground itself. Branches are short, thick, young shoots are green, eventually become brownish-grayish.
Needles: collected in bunches of 5 needles 7-10 cm long. The shape of the needles is straight, triangular, rigid, pointed at the tips, green or gray-green in color. The buds are ovoid, brown, resinous. Cones: cylindrical, grow in 1-2-3-4 pieces, 8-15 cm long, ripen in the second or third year.
Growth rate: up to 20-30 cm high per year, 10-15 cm wide per year.
Location: Prefers open, sunny places, tolerates slight shading. It is undemanding to the soil, but it grows well on moderately fertile soils, with a low alkali content and high acidity.
Used: mainly as a single tree in large parks and gardens. For group planting, the distance between seedlings should be at least 4 meters.
