Action in landscape design. A lush bush looks elegant in a single planting, it also looks great surrounded by conifers. The combination of action with weigela will add picturesque notes to your garden.

You can create a hedge from action, this is an excellent fence from gas pollution from the side of the roadway. The flowering shrub, planted along the paths in the yard, square or park, looks beautiful. You can plant a bush right next to the house or not far from the bench. Arcuate curved branches, under the weight of lush flowering, will add coziness and emphasize the beauty of your personal plot.

Purchase of seedlings. Examine the bush carefully for damage and disease. If you buy a seedling with an open root system, you have the opportunity to carefully examine the root system as well, it should not be overdried. Open-root can only be purchased prior to planting. Transporting seedlings in a container is much easier and will be easier to replant.

Location and landing. Since the shrub has the ability to grow strongly, it needs a place for expansion, therefore the distance from it and to the nearest plants, buildings should be about 2.5 meters. Choose an open, spacious area that is free from cold winds and drafts.

It is advisable that in the afternoon, direct sunlight does not fall on the plant, for example, in the shade of large trees, where sufficient moisture and diffused light will be maintained. The presence of shade has a beneficial effect on the duration of flowering.

The soil needs nutritious, slightly alkaline with good drainage, moderate moisture. The ideal time for planting is spring, after the snow has melted and the buds on the trees have not yet blossomed. Seedlings purchased in containers can be planted not only in spring, but also in autumn, when frosts have not yet begun.

Having decided on the place, prepare a hole about 50 cm deep, pour a drainage layer of broken brick or sand on the bottom. Then, carefully spreading the roots, install the seedling and fill the hole with soil with the addition of 100-130g of nitrophoska. Leave the root collar at the level of the soil surface. Compact the soil, water the young plant and mulch the area.

Action - care from spring to autumn

Caring for the action is not difficult, the main thing is not to overdo it with watering, to feed and cut on time. Periodically inspect shrubs for diseases and insects. The plant is hardy, but at temperatures below -25 ° C, it can freeze, at -30 ° C it can freeze completely. It is worth noting that the bush recovers rather quickly, but it is better not to risk it and build a shelter for the winter.

Watering. In the summer heat, two buckets of water are poured under the bush once a week. In cooler weather, one bucket of clean, settled water is enough. Try not to overmoisten the soil, the action does not like this. Towards the end of August, watering is reduced altogether.

Loosening, mulching. Immediately after planting, the trunk circle is mulched with peat, in a layer of 5-8 cm.After watering, you need to loosen the soil around the trunk to a depth of 25-30 cm.

Top dressing. In the spring, a solution of compost, ash and manure is introduced under the bush. Twice a season, during the flowering period, they are fertilized with complex mineral fertilizers.

Trimming and shaping. Regular pruning of the bush is carried out in spring and autumn. In the spring, sanitary pruning is carried out, frozen, broken branches are removed. If the plant is severely affected by frost, it is cut completely to the stump, this contributes to the rejuvenation of the action, provided that the root system remains in good condition.

In the fall, old, thickening branches are cut out, and those that have bloomed are shortened to the base. In addition, the crown of the bush is formed, giving it the desired shape.

Bloom. Blooms in summer, with small flowers gathered in panicles. White, pinkish, sometimes lemon flowers thickly adorn the plant for a month. The bloom is usually odorless.

Reproduction. It is most convenient to propagate the action by green cuttings. Cuttings are cut in mid-June or early July, on a 12-16 cm long cuttings there should be one or two internodes. Large sheets are cut in half. Further, cuttings are planted in prepared containers with light nutrient soil and covered with cut plastic bottles on top, thus creating mini-greenhouses, or installed in special greenhouses. Frequent spraying is necessary.

After rooting, they begin to gradually harden the plant, adapting to natural conditions. After two years, the seedlings will be ready for planting in a permanent place.

Diseases and pests. Action is very rarely attacked by pests and diseases. Nevertheless, sometimes it is attacked by a bumblebee proboscis, eating leaves. To get rid of the parasite, it is enough to treat the bush with a 15% solution of karbofos.

Deytion in winter. The shrub needs additional insulation for the winter. It is best to mulch the trunk circle with straw, dry leaves, cover with branches of coniferous spruce branches. Young plants should be additionally wrapped in burlap, and on top with a special covering material.

Interesting Facts. Dutch merchants brought the action to Europe in the 19th century. The plant was named in honor of the mayor of Amsterdam, Johann van Deitz, who took an active part in sponsoring a sea expedition to the East.
