Plant transplant after purchase

Buying a new flower for your home, we add grace, sophistication and beauty to our interior.

The bright appearance of exotic flowers brightens up gray everyday life, surrounded by green favorites, there is a feeling of fullness of life.

To help the plant survive the acclimatization, before purchasing the specimen you like, do not be lazy to read how to care for it.

An attentive attitude will protect the flower from many problems, in gratitude it will certainly delight the owners with rapid growth, active development and an extravagant appearance.

Why is the transport substrate dangerous?

Plants arrived to us from abroad in a special transporting substrate that can be used temporarily, but not suitable for long-term cultivation.

In industrial conditions, the necessary humidity and air temperature are created. Therefore, this substrate is not designed for watering, it is not moistened by water, but gets wet, as a result of which air ceases to pass through, and rot begins to form on the roots of the plant.

If you take out the root ball and, without peeling the roots, cover it with earth, you will get the effect of a compress, which will speed up the decay processes.
When to replant a new plant

In addition to being in soil unsuitable for life, the plant suffered many inconveniences before meeting you: a long trip in a refrigerator, parking in a warehouse, then in a store window, constant changes in temperature and lighting.

Too much stress for the green handsome man, so the flower needs to be transplanted after arriving home.

This must be done carefully and armed with useful tips from experienced florists. Our masters will be happy to help with a transplant, which is recommended not immediately after purchase, but a week later, so that the flower has time to acclimatize.

We carry out a transplant of an indoor flower

Carefully, trying not to damage the root system, we remove the plant from the pot.

If some pieces of substrate cannot be removed, soften them in a bowl of warm water. Usually about five to ten minutes is enough for the peat to detach freely from the roots. In cases of too small, intertwined roots, place them under a warm shower and rinse gently under running water.

Next, place the tips of the root in warm water with the addition of mineral fertilizers and leave in the solution for 10 minutes. In the meantime, prepare your potting mix. Pour the earth into a special container and mix it with the necessary components that are suitable for this plant: sand, leafy earth, humus, sphagnum.

Remove debris, crush large lumps and mix well.

Put a layer of expanded clay on the bottom of the pot, level it out, pour a small amount of the prepared soil mixture on top. Shake off excess water from the root and place it in the center of the pot.

Now you can fill it with soil, just do not tamp it too much, otherwise you will get a dense lump of earth, which will prevent the flow of nutrients necessary for the development of the plant.

When transplanting, it is important to place the root collar of the flower in the ground up to the level at which it was in the shipping container.

Water the flower and add the rest of the earth.

A plant that grew in a greenhouse needs feeding 1-2 months after transplanting, since the new soil already contains a certain amount of nutrients that will be enough for the plant for this period.

Subsequently, when feeding the plant, be careful not to burn the roots. It is best to use a special liquid fertilizer for indoor flowers. You can find the whole range of fertilizers for indoor plants here.

Pot selection

How not to get confused by the plethora of indoor plant pots on the shelves?

When choosing a pot, keep in mind that for a favorable development, the new container should only be 2-3 cm larger than the previous one. Small pots are suitable for small plants, and large ones with a highly developed root system should be transplanted into deep flowerpots.

Ceramic flowerpots have pores through which air circulates freely, excess moisture evaporates. They are more durable and safer, as they are quite heavy, and less likely to accidentally overturn.

Plastic pots are distinguished by a variety of colors and shapes, low price, light weight, and keep moisture longer. But they are less breathable and more likely to overheat.

The external decoration of the flower girls is of great importance; they must harmoniously fit into the interior and correspond to the style of the room. You can order a painted pot for a houseplant. Such an element of decor will add charm to the house, emphasize your artistic flair, sophistication of nature and sense of taste.

Taking into account the needs of the flower and following the recommendations that are described in the instructions, you can independently cope with a plant transplant.
