It is undemanding to the soil, prefers calcareous, sandy soils. It grows poorly in places with a high level of groundwater - the minimum level of occurrence is 2 m. It needs sufficient air humidity. Light-loving and fast-growing shrub, hardly branches. It blooms before the leaves open, the inflorescences are earrings about 3-4 cm long, which are red at first, then turn yellow.
