Abies holophylla
Whole-leaved fir (Latin Abies holophylla) or black fir, black Manchurian fir is a coniferous tree from the Pine family. Distributed in the Far East, China and Korea. In Russia, small tracts of black fir remained only in nature reserves.
Feature of the tree: In Ukraine, it is rare, mainly in arboretums and botanical gardens. Not resistant to air pollution, therefore it is not recommended to plant near roads. Frost resistant.
The maximum height of an adult solid-leaved fir is 30-40 meters. At 10 years old - 90-100 cm. Maximum crown diameter: 7-8 meters. At 10 years old - 60-70 cm. The shape of the crown is wide-cone-shaped with lower branches drooping to the ground. Needles: hard, dense, pointed, 2-4 cm long, 2-3 mm wide.
The color of the needles svrhu is dark green, shiny, with light stripes below. For the winter, the needles turn brown, and are completely renewed every 10-12 years. Cones are cylindrical, 8-10 cm long and 3-4 cm in diameter, light brown in color.
Growth rate: slow up to 7-10 years, an increase of 7-8 cm, after - an increase of 20-30 cm per year.
Location: In open space, but can grow in light partial shade. Frost and wind resistant. Moisture-loving, but without stagnant water. Prefers fertile, well-drained soil, but generally undemanding to soils. Sensitive to air pollution.
