Spectacular and not capricious plant is great for landscaping offices and apartments. The plant feels great both in hot and cool rooms. He does not need spraying, the main thing is not to overdo it with watering in the cold season. Despite the fact that in nature it lives under the scorching rays of the African sun, it tolerates the lack of light in the room well.
Due to its unpretentiousness and unusual appearance, the exotic handsome man is popular among florists and phytodesigners. Zamioculcas feels best on the sill of the south window, but it will not experience difficulties on the northern side of the apartment, only in this case it is necessary to water less often.
Lighting. The flower is unpretentious to lighting conditions. It develops well in bright diffused light, but it also tolerates partial shade. With enough light, it grows faster and retains the brightness of its colors. In the shade, the growth rate of zamiokulkas will slow down, the leaves will weaken and be placed on the trunk less often. In the summer, the plant can be taken out into an open space with shade from direct sunlight.
Temperature. Withstands a fairly wide range of temperatures, but you should not abuse it, after all, a warm habitat is more familiar to it.
The optimum temperature for a dollar tree in summer is 20-25 ° C. It tolerates a temperature rise of up to 28 ° C, but on hot days it is advisable to spray the plant. Zamioculcas is thermophilic, therefore, in winter, the temperature of the content should not fall below 12 ° C, optimally 15-18 ° C.
Air humidity. As for other succulents, air humidity for zamiokulkas does not play a big role. If the air is too dry, spraying will not interfere. Although the decorative handsome man does not suffer from a dry climate, to maintain beauty, you can wipe the leaves of zamiokulkas with a damp sponge. You can give the plant a warm shower to wash off the dust that has settled on the leaves, but this procedure should not be repeated more than 1 time per month.
Watering. Watering zamiokulkas, like other succulents, should be regular, abundant, but not frequent. Between waterings, the top 2-3 cm layer of the earth should dry out. In summer, watering frequency is 2 times a month, in winter - once a month. Between watering, zamiokulkas stores water, so short-term drought is not terrible for him, the plant suffers more from overflow.
With insufficient watering, the plant loses small leaves, when overdried, all the leaves can fall off, when overflowing, the leaves turn yellow, the roots rot. In the latter case, the plant will be difficult to save.
Top dressing. In the spring-summer period, when new leaves are actively developing, zamioculcas are fed with special fertilizers for cacti and succulents. The alternation of mineral and organic fertilizers will allow you to grow a large plant sooner. The frequency of feeding is no more than 1 time per month. In winter, it usually does not need feeding.
Transfer. The soil for zamiokulkas should be loose and porous. Sand or perlite is added to an ordinary commercial substrate, not less than a quarter of the volume. At the bottom of the pot, also by a quarter, drainage is made from expanded clay or clay shards (pieces of red brick).
Transplantation frequency - young plants annually in spring-summer, adults - every 3-5 years. A sign that a plant needs replanting is when the roots begin to emerge from the pot.
Trimming and shaping. Zamioculcus does not need pruning, it forms its own crown. If, in the case of improper growth, for better nutrition of the branches, you have to prune, then do it in the spring, when there is a period of active growth.
Bloom. Blooms in indoor conditions quite rarely, in adulthood. The flowers look like small panicles or cobs of white, nondescript color. The ear appears at the bottom of the plant, wrapped in a green veil, so it is not immediately noticeable.
Reproduction. The easiest way to propagate zamiokulkas zamielistny is by cuttings. A stalk with a couple of leaves is cut from an adult plant, dried a little and the tip is treated with charcoal and root. Then the cutting is planted to a depth of about 1 cm in coarse sand or a mixture of sand and peat. Water the soil and cover the pot with a transparent bag (plastic cup) to maintain moisture. The pot with the handle is placed in a warm place and sprayed regularly.
After a month and a half, when the roots appear, the stalk of the zamiokulkas is transplanted into a small pot with a loose substrate (for example, soil for cacti and succulents). Sand, perlite, vermiculite are added to the usual soil for porosity.
Attention: Be careful when handling the plant - zamioculcas contains poisonous cell juice. Wear gloves.
Diseases and pests. A succulent of unusual beauty rarely suffers from parasites, they are frightened off by a thick peel that protects the zamioculcas. But sometimes it can be affected by such pests: scale insects, spider mites, aphids. If you find insects, treat the leaves of the plant with warm soapy water. If you could not cope with the available means, use special preparations designed to eliminate this kind of parasites.
Follow the simple rules for caring for an exotic pet, because most often insects attack a weakened plant.
If the leaves begin to turn yellow en masse, the reason is in the overflow of the plant and the development of root rot.
Plants in winter. The rules of care during the dormant period are the same as for most other plants: limiting watering, stopping feeding. Try to keep the air temperature below 12 ° C.
