Selection and purchase of seedlings. When choosing garden calla lilies, you should carefully examine the tubers for damage and signs of disease. It is recommended to opt for large tubers without signs of drying out, they must have a dense structure.
Location and landing. It grows and thrives best on spacious shaded lawns. Despite the fact that in open areas the color of the foliage is more saturated, the peduncles will be much smaller and the plant may suffer from sunburn. The nearby trees and bushes will provide the necessary protection from the scorching rays in the afternoon.
The soil needs fertile, slightly acidic composition. If the soil is clay, you need to add peat and sand in equal proportions. Ideal for calla lilies if there is an artificial reservoir nearby. Avoid stagnant water, water sparingly, during prolonged drought - more intensively.
The time for planting seedlings is in the first half of May. First, the tubers are immersed in a solution of potassium permanganate, all rotten areas are cut out, if wounds have formed, they must be treated with brilliant green. The soil is dug up, after adding mineral fertilizer - 35-45g per square meter. Then holes are made in which the tubers are installed. The distance between the seedlings should be 35-50cm. Having covered the soil from above, it remains to water well and wait for young shoots, they will appear after two to four weeks.
At this time, additional watering is not required.
In autumn, calla lilies are not planted, they will not have time to take root before the arrival of cold weather.

Top dressing. In order for the bush to be lush, to produce many peduncles, it should be provided with complex mineral fertilizer, immediately before planting. To increase the flowering period, during this period, you can add a tablespoon of sodium sulfate under each bush. In case the soil is too alkaline, once a month, during the growing season, it should be watered with acidified citric acid or vinegar.

After the end of flowering, the peduncles should be cut before the formation of seeds. After a month, watering is reduced, the foliage will gradually wither, there is no need to cut it off during this period, it must transfer all the accumulated nutrients to the tuber.

The most common method is tubers, for this, tubers are planted in a spacious container filled with nutrient soil, deepening 3-4 cm.The tubers should be installed with the rounded side down, and the tubercles - sprouting flower buds - from above. Next, keep the soil moist until summer.
Before planting in open ground, prepare holes 10-12 cm deep, taking into account the distance between the bushes about 50 cm. Having installed the planting material in the hole at a depth of 8-10 cm, sprinkle with soil and water well.
