The horizontal cotoneaster is a deciduous shrub native to Central China. Its name speaks of the nature of growth: shoots grow horizontally along the ground and can reach up to 1.5 m in length. Bloom - from late May to mid-June with small light pink flowers.

It is especially decorative at the stage of ripening - bright red fruits can stay on branches from autumn and all winter.

The horizontal cotoneaster grows well in places open to sunlight, photophilous. Undemanding to watering, resistant to drought. It grows quickly and is frost-resistant enough, hibernates with light cover with a dry leaf or under a layer of snow. In landscaping, this shrub is used in single plantings on an open lawn, on alpine hills, to create green carpets, on rocky slopes, walls.

Maximum height of an adult cotoneaster: 25-30 cm. Maximum crown length: 1.2-1.5 m. Crown shape: very dense, carpet-like, creeping. Leaves: oval, dark green in color, up to 1.5-2 cm long, long lasting. Flowers: have a strong aroma, small, white or pink. Fruits are red, 6-8 mm in diameter. Growth rate: relatively fast growing.

Location: grows well on drained, fertile soils. Prefers sunny locations. Applied: as a ground cover plant in rock gardens, small and rocky gardens.
